O'Brien smiling again after winning double

Flemington trainer Danny O'Brien put behind him the disappointment of losing star sprinting mare Glamour Puss to retirement when he prepared a winning double at Sandown's Hillside meeting on Wednesday.O'Brien claimed the day's training honours when he prepared French-bred Sadler's Wells mare Sadler's Girl to take out the Cyril Beechey Handicap (2400m) and Montjeu three-year-old Aznavour to victory in the Rampion Handicap (2400m).

The well-bred pair were O'Brien's only two runners for the day.

The dual success went some way to erasing the disappointment of losing Glamour Puss, who had her English campaign cut short on Tuesday when O'Brien decided she was not going well enough to join Takeover Target and Falkirk in the July Cup, which will be run at Newmarket on Saturday morning.

The five-year-old daughter of Tale Of The Cat retires having won nine of her 24 starts, with Group 1 wins in the Goodwood Handicap (1200m) and Salinger Stakes (1200m).
