Black-type option for Sure You Can

Trainer Danny O'Brien is looking at giving quality staying mare Sure You Can a chance at stakes level on the final day of the Flemington Spring Carnival.

The daughter of the ill-fated O'Reilly had her first test in open mares company of Friday night at Moonee Valley and after settling last she came with a withering run to be beaten in head-bob photo, pictured left.

"Her run was excellent and this should have her cherry ripe to return to her favourite track on the final day of the carnival," O'Brien said.

"We have two 2000m options on the day, one being the Matriarch at Group 2 against her own sex or the benchmark 90 event against the boys.

"After her effort on Friday night I am leaning towards giving her the chance at stakes level as that will add greatly to her value post her racing career if she could win or finish in the placings."

The five-year-old mare has had four starts at Flemington over 2000m for two wins and two placings.
"She loves the wide open spaces of Flemington and her best performances have at that track over this trip, so we head towards that race with confidence that she will perform well."
