O'Brien celebrates Flemington double

Trainer Danny O'Brien celebrated his best ever season with a winning double at Flemington on Sunday.

O'Brien landed the feature race of the day, the Silver Bowl Final (1640m) with Exclusivity and was also successful in the Bitalli Hcp (2800m), with Aznavour.

O'Brien trained 41 city winners, nine at Group level, eclipsing his record 38 winners of last season.

O'Brien said he had increased his team from 40 to 50 in the past season and he had trained around 90 winners nationwide.

Exclusivity started $3.20 favourite in the Silver Bowl but was the first emergency and nearly didn't get a run.

Ridden by Steven King, the Carnegie three-year-old has been consistent but Sunday's win was only his second in 13 starts.

"He has been an unlucky horse so it was nice for him get a good run in the race today," O'Brien said.

"He has taken a little bit of time to mature but hopefully he can go on with it from here.

Jockey Stephen Baster was suspended for his winning ride on Aznavour who shifted in abruptly near the 200m causing interference to second placegetter Good Swing, ridden by apprentice Logan McGill.

Good Swing was beaten a length and while McGill unsuccessfully lodged a protest, Baster was found guilty of careless riding and suspended until midnight August 12.
