Ballarat Cup beckons for Bullet

Trainer Danny O'Brien has highlighted the Ballarat Cup as the next target for his ultra-consistent Second Bullet after his closing third on Cup Day.

Second Bullet charged at the line to grab third behind Odeon in the 1800m listed event on Cup Day, pictured, and O'Brien said the 2200m country feature was a perfect second-up target for his charge.

"It was a super effort today after a seven-week let-up and this should top him off nicely for the Ballarat Cup later this month," O'Brien said.

The 2200m of the Ballarat Cup looks ideal for the son of Encosta De Lago, who last Spring finished second to UK raider Francis of Assisi in the Bendigo Cup.

"The horse loves that distance range and his effort today will bring him on physically as he was finding the line as well as anything in the race."
