Miss A toughs it out to secure win

Miss Adequate had to draw on all her reserves to secure victory at Geelong on Sunday.

Trainer Danny O'Brien said he was very proud of the O'Reilly mare given she had to work hard to lead in the early stages before holding off the closers late in the race.

"She had to burn the candle at both ends of the race to record her win, and I was very proud of her effort in the final 100m to keep going," O'Brien said.

"We had planned to ride her with cover today, so to do what she did was very meritorious."

O'Brien said the four-year-old who has won twice and placed three times from eight starts, would more than likely head to Moonee Valley under lights for her next start over 1500m in BM64 grade on December 9.
