Moor produces gem aboard filly

A harsh self-evaluation of an earlier ride for trainer Danny O'Brien was the catalyst behind Daniel Moor's decisive successful front-running ride aboard Summer Sham at Moonee Valley on Friday night.

Earlier in the night, Moor was caught in a pocket and had no luck on favorite Sacred Sham for the O'Brien stable before producing a gem aboard the daughter of Not A Single Doubt, who now has two wins from two starts.

O'Brien paid homage to Moor's mental fortitude.

"Full credit to Daniel, he showed real commitment there from the barrier, crossed and made sure of it," said an elated O'Brien.

"Some people can play the victim and wallow in self-pity after what happened to him earlier tonight, but the great thing about Daniel is that he got dirty on himself and put all that focus in making sure it didn't define his night or happen the next chance he had."

The jockey showed what it meant to him with a big fist pump over the line.

"Owner Jeff Dimery and Danny are very loyal and after the first one I was just happy I could get them a result with this filly. I appreciate that they have kept me on as she is a filly of great promise," Moor said.

The jockey heads off for a weekend stint in Singapore in fine fettle, having won nine races in the past fortnight from just 27 rides.

In Singapore he is booked for four rides across the weekend, including two for Lee Freedman.

O'Brien said the next step for the daughter of Not A Single Doubt could be next Friday night's Group 3 Typhoon Tracy Stakes (1200m) back at the Valley, or the Group 2 Angus Armanasco Stakes (1400m) on Saturday-week depending on how she pulls up.
