Determined mare hits the mark at Flemington
Four-year-old mare Another Bullseye, pictured inside, showed a strong resolve and determination to continue her progression through the grades after fighting back for a head-bobbing victory after being headed with 100m to run at Flemington on Saturday.
Given a peach of a ride in the one-out, one-back position by jockey Daniel Moor the daughter of Mossman surged to the lead at the 300m only to be headed by the in-form Galaxy Raider inside the final furlong of the 1600m Benchmark 78 event.
"She has such a strong will to win and that determination showed in the final 100m when she changed legs and dug deep to find the line first," an thrilled Daniel Moor said.
Trainer Danny O'Brien paid tribute to Moor who heads off on a stint to Singapore after next weekend's Caulfield meeting.
"Daniel is in such great form, he gives every horse the best possible chance and his consistency is tremendous which is all a trainer could ask for. The stable will miss him, but it's a great opportunity for him and I am confident we will make a big impact over there," O'Brien said.
When pressed about the heights that the Uluru Stud raced-and-bred mare could get to O'Brien said his charge would get her chance in better races if she earned it.
"She has raced well at Flemington without winning, so it was great to knock over that today. She has returned with two wins and a close second to French Emotion so she is in terrific form and she can still work her way through the grades so we will do that and if she keeps improving she will earn a chance at decent race in the future."
The win was the mare's fourth from 19 starts and took her stake earnings to $191,900.
