Winks releases the Hound

Buckhound showed more wins were in store when he produced a stunning return to racing at Pakenham on Thursday night.

Taken back to last by jockey James Winks from the outside gate, the son of Sepoy rounded up the field with a barnstorming finish to win the BM64 1400m event.

Winks said he was very impressed with the gelding's victory.

"We decided to go back from the gate and have him run on, and a pass mark would have been him finding the line nicely passing a few horses, but the turn of foot he showed was excellent and that was a very good performance," Winks said.

The win was the three-year-old gelding's second at just start four and Winks believes the future is bright for the Magic Millions graduate.

"I expect his owners will have a lot of fun with him this preparation as he goes through his grades, and it wouldn't surprise me to see him in a nice race based on tonight."
