Fabric looks like silk

The riches from Waikato Stud keep following for trainer Danny O'Brien, with the Group 1 trainer producing another winner for the Green, Blue and White colours of the famous Stud, this time at Geelong on Tuesday.

After impressing during three runs in the Spring, the daughter of Ocean Park stepped out for the first time in the Autumn and she proved far too classy for her rivals in the 1321m maiden event.

"She obviously had form on the board in the Spring, but it was great to see resume like that," O'Brien said.

"There is definitely improvement to come as she has a lot more substance than she had in the Spring. We will let her find her feet as she still has plenty of her three-year-old year to come and hopefully she can strong a few together."

Jockey Craig Williams was impressed with her performance.

"I have done a lot of preliminary work with her and pre-race Danny said 'trust her wherever you are in the run as she is too good for these horses' and she was today. I love the way that she went, she will get better over further and I think she is in store for better things as she progresses," Williams said.

Fabric is part of a lease package of eight fillies that the Stud and trainer put together to race in Australia. Fabric joins My Pendant, I'm Buxom, Queen Leonora, Be Instant and Happily To Be as winners for the partnership.

"The group have had a great ride, as there are some nice fillies amongst them and hopefully this girl can go onto bigger and better things for them," O'Brien said.

Three-year-old Savabeel filly Lage will be hoping to join the list of winners for this partnership when she steps out to a mile at Ararat on Thursday for her third race start.
