Magic draw for Glam, Masked Assassin's bid killed off

THE news keeps getting better for Melbourne filly Absolut Glam as her Magic Millions Trophy price shrinks.

Absolut Glam was posted a TAB Sportsbet $3 favourite for the $1 million MM Trophy (1400m) at the Gold Coast on Monday after yesterday's barrier draw when she came up with the rails.

However there was a contrasting outcome for another Melbourne three-year-old, Masked Assassin, who has been ruled out of the Trophy.

Two weeks ago Absolut Glam was posted at double-figure odds when she was listed as a highly unlikely runner after being found to be lame.

That followed her second to Royal Discretion in the Group 2 Kewney Stakes (200m) at Flemington.

"She had a foot abscess but it responded quickly to treatment and she seemed perfect after a bit of exercise at Eagle Farm this morning," Melbourne trainer Danny O'Brien said.

"Pete Hanley, who travelled up with her, has been very happy with the way she has settled in. Then to get the inside draw was an added plus. She should get some luck from there.

"A lot of people query whether it is a big ask to go into a big race the right-handed direction without some race experience that way of going.

"Really, I think that theory is a bit overrated. Most horses are pretty adaptable and she is one I would think would very easily adapt, particularly from that gate."
