O’Brien treads familiar path

Last start winner of the Listed Creswick Stakes, Glam Slam, will be out to emulate the feats of her full-sister Crepe De Chine when she returns to the racetrack during the spring.

Boasting two wins and three placings from six starts in New Zealand, Glam Slam made an immediate impression in Australia, when finishing second to Chameleon over 1200m at Flemington back in May.

A week later at the same venue and over the same distance, Glam Slam was equally impressive in winning the $101,000 Listed Creswick Stakes (1200m) for three-year-olds, pictured above.

The four-year-old mare is now being prepared to chase more black-type over the spring carnival according to trainer Danny O'Brien.

"She's been in the paddock after her win and has just returned to me," O'Brien said to The Virtual Formguide.

O'Brien has pinpointed the $70,000 Pure Blonde Plate (1100m) for fillies and mares on Caulfield Cup day, October 17, as an ideal race for Glam Slam to commence her preparation.

The daughter of Pins will be then be aimed at the $151,500 Listed Crown Promenade Stakes (1100m) on Oaks Day, November 5, at Flemington.

Crepe De Chine, who was previously trained by O'Brien, won both the above mentioned races before finishing fifth in the 2007 Group 1 Oakleigh Plate (1100m) at her next preparation.

O'Brien has gained valuable insights into the pedigree of Glam Slam, also training her half-sister Code Black.

Code Black came agonisingly close to gaining black-type earlier this year when fourth in the Group 3 $125,000 Hyderabad Racing Club Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield.
