Cup draw pleases O'Brien

Flemington trainer Danny O'Brien was bouyed by the barrier draw for Saturday's Australian Cup after his chances Master O'Reilly and Barbaricus drew well this morning.

2007 Caulfield Cup winner Master O'Reilly drew barrier 5, while 2008 Mackinnon Stakes runner-up Barbaridcus drew 7 in the 16-horse field.

"I am very happy with both horses leading into such a big race and I am expecting them to both run well," O'Brien said.

Master O'Reilly, pictured above, is tackling the 2000m featutre second-up after an excellent fifth over 1200m in the Group 1 Australia Stakes, while comeback galloper Barbaricus bounced back to form last week in his third start back from an 11-month injury lay-off with a fourth behind Typhoon Tracy in the Group Futurity Stakes at Caulfield.

Zagreb, placegetter in last year's Australian Cup, has drawn the inside barrier for this year's edition. Prior to finishing third in last year's Australian Cup, Zagreb finished fourth in the Listed Kilmore Cup (1600m). A listed winner in Adelaide two starts back, this year his final lead-up run saw him finish fifth behind La Rocket in the Group 2 St George Stakes (1800m) at Caulfield a fortnight ago.

With La Rocket to miss the race through injury, Heart Of Dreams is once again expected to be the punters elect. Heart Of Dreams will start from barrier eight with stablemate Miss Maren starting nearby in gate ten.

Winner of last week's Group 2 Autumn Classic (1800m) Extra Zero, who the only three-year-old in the race, will have to contend with the outside alley in the field of sixteen.
