Australia's best maiden no longer
VRC Oaks placegetter Placement finally shed her maiden status with a strong win at Geelong on Friday.
Trainer, and part-owner, Danny O'Brien was thrilled with the result as it ended a frustrating run for the mare.
"She finished in the placing's eight times and five of those were in the runner's up stall, so to break through is a relief," O'Brien said.
The daughter of Savabeel has black-type on her pedigree thanks to seconds at listed and Group 2 level, while she also finished third in the Group 1 VRC Oaks behind Brazilian Pulse during the Melbourne Cup Carnival.
"Now that we have the win under her belt we can start to aim her at some of the early spring mares' races and see if she can add a black-type win to her record," the trainer said.
O'Brien is looking at the Group 2 Stocks Stakes at Moonee Valley over 1600m on Saturday, September 10 as her next mission.
