AWESOME ALLEN KING MAKER

Jockey Ben Allen was on fire at Swan Hill on Friday with a treble, but his best ride of the day was when he partnered with King's Crossing.

The part-time DJ was spinning rings around his fellow rivals when he was able to push King's Crossing into the one-one position after being caught wide early in the 2400m event. This gave the race favourite an economical run in transit and he was hardly pressured in the run to the line.

"It wasn't looking great early as we were trapped deep but I saw a chance to force in and we took advantage of that," Allen said post-race.

"The win was full of merit as we didn't get to relax mid-race as the horse we pushed to the fence continually tried to force us back out and constantly bumped us through the run, however we tracked into the race well and he was dominant."
