Blinkers open the Jar

The addition of blinkers was the catalyst for Jarmanagic to find the killer instinct to break his maiden status at Geelong on Friday.

In a two-year-old season that led to his seventh start on Friday, the son of Starspangledbanner proved far too strong for his rivals over 1300m on the Synthetic surface.

Jockey James Winks restrained him to settle three-wide with cover from the wide gate tracking the favourite, Concrete, into the race before racing away inside the final furlong.

Trainer Danny O'Brien was on hand to witness the win and he was pleased with what he saw.

"The blinkers have definitely helped him find the knockout blow today," O'Brien said.

"He has been cruising into his races before marking time in the final furlong - he hasn't been getting beaten far he just need the hood to help sharpen his focus."

The two-year-old Inglis graduate has ran one placing, fourth four times and fifth in his first six starts, with an averaging losing margin of just under 2.5 lengths.

"He deserved a two-year-old win and hopefully this win gives him confidence to go on with it."

O'Brien is eyeing next week's 1400m Vobis Gold event at Caulfield for the Rosemont Stud bred gelding's next start.
