Bullpit scores in 55 challenge

The Danny O’Brien-trained Bullpit flew the gates and never looked in doubt of taking out the Jeep 55 Second Challenge Heat 9 (955m) at Moonee Valley on Friday night.

While his time of 55.91 seconds will not put him in contention to take out the Jeep for the fastest time run over the series, jockey James Winks said he was impressed with the three-year-old gelding’s run.

“He flew the lids, he’s a little beauty; he’s got good speed,” Winks said.

“Full credit to the stable, they’ve had this race picked out a long time and they’ve been happy just to keep him ticking over and he won super the other day.”

Bullpit ($7.50) was dominant in his performance, jumping well to take the lead and was always in control of the race.

The galloper scored by a length from Lock And Load ($11) with Oridane ($9) a further two-and-a-half lengths back in third.

The Brett Stanley-trained Beach Front is the current leader of the 16-race series after scoring a scorching time of 55.08 on December 12.
