CLASS FILLY BRINGS UP STABLE FEATURE DOUBLE

Well-bred filly Starelle enhanced her broodmare value with an outstanding victory in the Group 2 Kewney Stakes at Flemington, bringing up a Super Saturday double for local trainer Danny O'Brien.

The win actaully broke the daughter of More Than Ready's maiden as she had only placed three times from seven career starts before today, although two of her placings where at Group 2 and Group 3 level.

O'Brien was thrilled to get the result for long term stable client Robert Anderson.

"She was just tipped out in the Manifold in the Spring, but she got there today although I did think she was going to get nutted again in the photo, but she dug deep and it was a nice win," O'Brien said.

The Melburne Cup winning trainer earmarked a trip to the South Australian Carnival later this preparation for the filly.

"I'd say she would head towards Adelaide. She is likely to stay here for the Sunline Stakes at the Valley and then the Vobis Gold Day before possibly heading to the Australasian Oaks."

The filly settled last in running before jockey Craig Williams weaved a path through the field, pouncing on the lead just before the famous Flemington Clocktower.

"She has done a great job becuase the condiditons of today's event were a set weights race so she has met some better performed fillies on even weights which makes her performance more meritorious," Williams said.

"We had some traffic jams that we had to get out of but is was a super dominant win."
