DEVIL IS IN THE DETAIL

Four jump outs had two-year-old Devil Man rock hard fit that allowed him to prove too tough for his rivals at Sale on Sunday.

The son of Hellbent relished the Heavy 10 conditions as he held off all his rivals in the 1100m two-year-old maiden event.

The win bought up trainer Danny O'Brien's 104th for the season which inched him closer to his all-time record of 106 that was set in 2006/07.

O'Brien is likely to saddle up horses in four races in the final meeting of the season at Sandown on Wednesday as he tries to claim his best mark.

Jockey Liam Riordan made use of the gelding's fast start to take up the running before angling to the middle of the track and holding off all challenges.

"This horse worked really well on Tuesday morning, which gave me confidence that if he handled the wet ground he would run really well," Riordan said post race.

"I think he has a lot of improvement left in him, as he got lost when he was out in front by himself as he was having a good look at everything, but he kept going to score the win win which was pleasing."
