Double delight for Thornton and O'Brien

Damien Thornton and trainer Danny O'Brien combined for a double at Geelong on Wednesday when Made Me Shiver underlined her potential with a class performance over 1755m.

After earlier saluting with Miss Adequate, the pair teamed up with the odds-on pop to register the double.

However it wasn't all plain sailing for the $1.70 favourite.

"Her effort was very good as we were planning to roll forward, but she wasn't going to get there so Damien reverted to Plan B and rode her back in the field with cover. She showed her class by coming with a sustained run from back in the field to claim an easy victory in the end," trainer Danny O'Brien said.

"She continues to improve each time she steps out so we will take her to Flemington next start for a 2000m event and see if she can measure up there."

The three-year-old daughter of Uncle Mo is in terrific form this campaign having won at Yarra Valley first-up - defeating subsequent city winner Oceanex - before a gallant and luckless second at Moonee Valley before Thursday's triumph.

"She won with a bit in hand so I would expect she can measure up in town next start over 2000m," Thornton said post race.
