Dreaded shows fight in Boxing Day win
Dreaded showed all the fight of his Melbourne Cup winning sire Shocking as he sat three deep throughout before careering away to victory over 2400m at Geelong on Boxing Day.
In the process, the gelding handed visiting UK apprentice Josh Bryan his first Australian winner.
It was Dreaded's fourth start for trainer Danny O'Brien and his first of his four career wins on a turf track.
"He came to us with three synthetic wins on his record and we have taken our time with him as he needed a good grounding to be able to get up to this distances where he can be competitive," O'Brien said.
"Also the drop back in grade helped him as well."
O'Brien said he was pleased for Bryan, who is on loan from Andrew Balding, to notch his first winner in Australia.
"He is following in some great footsteps being Oisin Murphy and Keiran Shoemark and it was great for him to get off the mark. He is here for another couple of weeks so hopefully he can finish off his stay strongly."
