ENGINE ROARS TO VICTORY
Roaring Engine lifted off the canvas to score a gutsy win at Sandown on Wednesday, which may see him end up in better races later this preparation.
The four-year-old full-brother to Miami Bound, and half brother of De Little Engine is in a rich vein of form and looks at bright staying prospect.
Training Danny O'Brien is contemplating running the gelding in the Adelaide Cup over 3200m at his next start.
In Wednesday's 2400m BM70 event, Roaring Engine was clearly headed by Martial Eagle however his tenacity saw him lift to score victory in the shadows of the post.
Roaring Engine had to survive a protest from the runner-up, but it was redemption for his owners as he was denied victory at Moonee Valley last start when he was nosed out and had his own protest dismissed that night.
Rider Blake Shinn was relieved to get the result this time.
"He deserved to win the race and it was a win full of merit. Danny is a great conditioner of horses and I knew that he would keep finding all the way to the line and he was strong late, which is why he won," Shinn said post race.
"I think this horse keeps improving and now he has matured, I think he can get to a good level."
