FABRIC STITCHES UP RIVALS WITH LATE DIVE
Champion jockey Craig Williams was forced to revert to "Plan Z" aboard Fabric which led to an exciting, heart stopping weaving run from last to score at Caulfield on Saturday.
Racing.com racecaller Matt Hill spotted it early when he noted how Fabric ($7) was weaving through the pack and on the line the mare managed to make it a running double in the first half of the Caulfield card for O'Brien.
The last-stride win over Parmie ($5.50) followed a blistering return just a race earlier from stablemate From Within ($31), who managed to lead and keep that advantage to the line in the Henley Homes Handicap (1100m).
"We drew wide in this race last year and rolled forward and won, so the plan was do that again, but when she was slowly away I had to revert to Plan Z," Williams said post race.
"I wans't sure we were going to get there, but she did a great job to stick her down at the right time and get the win."
Trainer Danny O'Brien said he would look to get the Waikato Stud filly into a stakes class race by the end of the Spring.
