Fashion back in at Flemington

A return to her home track and a firmer surface had the Danny O'Brien-trained Fashion Black ($11) back in form at Flemington on Saturday.

From a wide gate in the 1410m event, Dwayne Dunn gained cover, despite being three wide, and moved up quickly in the straight to overhaul Little Tycoon, who had the run of the race, for a three-quarter-length win.

"She won at Sandown in the heavy as a three-year-old, but at her last start there, Dwayne said she just stumbled coming down the hill and lost all confidence but she was a lot happier on the firmer ground today," O'Brien said.

Earlier in her career O'Brien said he had believed Fashion Black would be suited up to 2000 metres but she had struggled over longer trips.

"Every time she has gone past a mile [1600 metres] she has struggled so we'll just look for similar races over the next month," he said.

The win took Fashion Black's record to three victories from four starts at Flemington and she now has earned $161,813 in prizemoney.
