Gap job has Prebble talking up filly

Jockey Brett Prebble is confident trainer Danny O'Brien has a potential stakes filly on his hands after guiding Sovereign Award to a seven-length romp at Geelong on Sunday.

The daughter of O'Brien's Cox Plate and Australian Guineas winner Shamus Award, the only horse to have ever won the two iconic features, jumped to the front and careered away in the 1212m three-year-old fillies' maiden event.

"It looked easy, but that was quite a difficult ride," Prebble said post race.

"She was quite aggressive and on one rein most of the way as she was looked at the rail, but she has a big action, big motor and just really raw with lots of upside.

"She has listed level and much better ability maybe, so if she can helps us help her it will make her job a lot easier."

Prebble said she was worthy of her $1.20 favourtism as her first start second to city performer Tofane showed she had class.

"If she keeps learning and understanding what it is all about and improving, the sky's the limit."
