GELDING JETS HOME FROM FARHH BACK
Farhh Flung surged from last to first in an impressive performance to open Moonee Valley's Moir Stakes meeting on Friday night.
The win was the third of the consistent gelding's 14-start career and trainer Danny O'Brien's Racing Manager Jack Howard was full of praise for Blake Shinn's winning ride.
"Really great ride from Blake first of all, he's a really consistent gelding now, that's his 14th career start and he's run in the top four in 13 of his 14 runs, the only time he hadn't run top four was as a three-year-old over 1 1⁄4 m at the back end of that season here at The Valley," Howard said.
Howard said the horse put the writing on the wall with an encouraging first-up run before Friday's performance.
"Throughout his whole career he's just continued to improve every time we bring him back to the races, he's just learning that little bit more each time, as I said he's ultra consistent, and he loves these 1500m-to-mile trips so I'll leave the plan up to Danny, but I daresay we'll get him home, give him a couple of weeks and seeing as he likes to get around here we might be back for another couple of Friday nights."
Shinn said he was thrilled with how the race panned out.
"The race set up nicely as they went quick. I learned a lot from riding him the other day, I pushed the button a bit early when he was going to win, I think he only possesses a 250m max sprint and then he levels out so it worked out good that Mark Zahra gave me a nice cart into the race and I was within range around the turn. I knew he'd be strong late, the horse deserves it. Danny's done a great job with him, well done to all the owners, it's a great thrill."
