He has been talked about as a Derby prospect for the past few months and this chatter will only intensify after Politely Dun demolished his rivals by more than three lengths at Ballarat today.
Out of Group 1 Myer Classic winner Politeness, the son of Dundeel, was stepping to 2000m for the first time and he relished the increase in distance as he powered away from his rivals.
Jockey Damien Lane was thrilled to get the result with the VRC Derby Prospect.
"He hadn't won yet as he does a lot wrong and that was the case today, but he was too good for them and hopefully that gives him some confidence moving forward," Lane said post race.
Trainer Danny O'Brien has a wealth of choices for his next start heading towards a potential Derby start.
"He wil either head to the Caulfield Classic on Caulfield Cup Day or the Vase on Cox Plate Day, and there is the Geelong Classic in between so there is a myriad of options for his to continue his progression," O'Brien said.
The $150,000 2023 Magic Millions purchase has a win and four placings from his six career starts and $88,585 in prizemoney.
