Gigabyte is the one to watch

He's by a red hot sire and scored an eye-catching last to first win on debut at Ballarat on Thursday, which is why you need to know who he is.

A $200,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Yarraman Park draft, three year-old Fastnet Rock gelding Gigabyte (pictured winning) created a big impression when he stormed home from last to win the 1100 metre maiden by half a length.

Prepared by Danny O'Brien, Gigabyte was ridden patiently by Mark Zahra, who allowed him to settle back in the field and find his feet after jumping from an outside gate, before charging home out wide.

"We just wanted to teach him a bit today and get him back in behind horses, so he could run home and he really impressed me,” said Zahra.

"He's still learning, but when he puts it altogether he's going to be a nice horse.”

Foaled and raised at Yarraman Park for his breeders Tim Hughes and the Dufficy brothers, Gigabyte is the third winner from three foals to race for the Group 3 placed Distorted Humor (USA) mare Twisted Heart.

Twisted Heart is in hot form herself with her first foal, Singapore based stakes-winner Speed Baby (by Fastnet Rock), running third in the Raffles Cup Sng Gr 1 at Kranji on Sunday and her second foal Well Done (by Commands), winning his second race at Happy Valley last night.

Twisted Heart comes from the family of slick Group 2 winners Katima and Deferential and her current yearling, a colt by Red Ransom (USA) will be consigned to the 2012 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale by Yarraman Park.
