Glamour debut from Waikato blueblood

Since Waikato Stud's Tahi was born there have always been expectations on him given he is the son of dual Group 1 winning mare Glamour Puss. And on debut at Geelong on Friday over 1200m, he showed he has inherited more than he is fair share of his mother's ability.

Starting at $8, and jumping from an outside barrier the New Zealand-bred jumped cleanly and settled in the lead out wide on the track, before careering away in the straight for a 3.3 length romp.

Trainer Danny O'Brien, who guided Glamour Puss to her top level wins, was thrilled with the victory, hinting that better things were in store from the son of O'Reilly.

"Glamour Puss was a special, special horse to me and I have been lucky enough to train some of her progeny and it gives me great delight to get today's result for Mark and Garry (Chittick)," O'Brien said.

"He is a big raw gelding that has improved with every jump out he has had and today's performance was pretty classy and underlines how much potential he has as he is not the finished product yet."

Jockey Patrick Moloney was very impressed with the three-year-old's first race start, saying that he expects to the gelding to improve sharply from the outing.

"He is a beautiful horse that is only going to get better as he still doesn't know a lot, but he did today on pure ability," Moloney said.

"He oozes class and once he learns what to do the sky is the limit, as I would expect him to get over further distances without any issues."
