Go Public keeping it in the family

Promising colt Go Public had trainer Danny O'Brien beaming with pride as well as showing that he has a big future with an encouraging maiden win at Echuca on Thursday.

O'Brien trained the Stratum colt's mother Placement to a string of black type placings including second in the Group 2 Wakeful and third in the Group 1 Crown Oaks in the 2010 Melbourne Cup carnival.

The daughter of Savabeel finished her career with 5 wins and 17 placings from 38 starts and more than $470,000 in prizemoney, with Go Public her first foal.

"Placement was a very dear mare to the stable and it's great to for us to train her first foal to a win," O'Brien said.

"And judging how softly he did it without much going his way, I think that won't be the last of his wins."

Jockey Daniel Moor had planned to position the three-year-old up on the speed, however he was slowly away and was forced to revert to Plan B.

"That wasn't the plan, but he traveled sweetly throughout and wasn't afraid to take the gaps when they presented and his win was very nice. He has a future this bloke," Moor said.
