Important black-type for Champions' Toffee

Classy three-year-old Toffee Nose gained all important black-type for her pedigree on Friday night in the Group 3 Alexandra Stakes at Moonee Valley.

The Victorian-bred filly placed second in the feature event after enduring a torrid run in transit, thrilling her Champions Thoroughbred owners.

"Her run was fantastic given the circumstances and tonight is really good for her broodmare value so it was another great step forward in her career," trainer Danny O'Brien said.

"I would love to have swapped runs with the winner, but you have to deal with what you are presented with and we are very proud of her tonight. She is a lovely filly who is only going to continue to improve."

The Toorak Toff filly put the writing on the wall last Spring when O'Brien started her in the Group 2 Wakeful Stakes on Derby Day, where the three-year-old ran a classy fourth in just her fourth start.

"She continues to improve every time we have raised the bar for her and I am confident that there is a black-type win in her future," O'Brien said.

The Flemington trainer has outlined a short-term plan of two 1600m VOBIS Gold three-year-old races in the April as targets for the Rosemont Stud bred.
