KEY RUNS FOR O'BRIEN PAIR
Danny O’Brien needs to see positive runs from his pair of promising three-year-old stayers Politely Dun and Hurry Curry at Caulfield on Saturday if they are to progress to their respective spring goals at Flemington.
“The equation is a simple one for both of them as three-year-olds. They need to run well, as if they don’t they will be heading to the spelling paddock,” O'Brien said.
Politely Dun is being set for the Victoria Derby and will contest the Group 3 Sportsbet Classic (2000m) at Caulfield.
Hurry Curry will run in the Group 3 Ethereal Stakes (2000m), a traditional three-year-old fillies lead-in for the VRC Oaks.
Politely Dun finished third in the Victoria Derby Preview at Flemington before he headed to a Ballarat Maiden, which he won over 2000m on October 3.
“He’s had a really good grounding. He has a really good constitution, so we were able to back him up and he won his maiden easily. He needs to provide us with a good run,” O’Brien said.
Hurry Curry hasn’t started since he won the VRC Oaks Preview at Flemington on September 22.
“She’s only had three runs. I thought she’d be more of an autumn filly, but she won with a bit in hand last start and it’s the same for her. She needs to keep on progressing,” he said.
