Last crack a winner for Gervais

Bluesky Bloodstock's Gervais showed great fighting qualities on Sunday at Sale to record his third career victory.

Headed inside the 100m, the son of Rip Van Winkle picked himself up to record a strong victory over 1500m, his third win in his 13 starts, but his second win from as many starts at Sale.

"I was impressed with the way he was headed and then wouldn't be denied to secure the win inside the last 50m," trainer Danny O'Brien said.

O'Brien said the win showed the four-year-old had scope to race successfully over further having won over 1200m and 1300m earlier in his career.

"Today's win showed that he has at least 1600m within his scope and that is a positive for his future."
