Listed winning pair resume at headquarters

Stakes winning juveniles Cambiaso and Donna Cattiva step out for the first time as three-year-olds on Saturday at Flemington for trainer Danny O'Brien.

Cambiaso burst onto the scene when dominant in the first two-yea-old race of last season, the Maribyrnong Trial Stakes, down the Flemington straight before not racing up to his best through the Autumn.

"He was excellent at his only trip down the straight and Saturday will give us a guide as to where to aim with him over the Spring," O'Brien said.

Cambiaso will line up in the Group 2 Danehill Stakes at the weekend and O'Brien said he is taking the "suck it and see" approach with the colt.

"He didn't measure up to the Blue Diamond horses in the Autumn, however he has had a knee chip removed since and he has matured into a lovely horse, so it will be good to see how measures up against Snitzerland and the like on Saturday."

The regally-bred Donna Cattiva, who looked super impressive winning a listed 1600m event by four lengths at Morphettville in May, starts an Oaks campaign in the 1100m fillies listed event on Saturday.

"She will probably want it further although she did place on debut down the straight so she is no without a hope on Saturday," O'Brien said.

The three-year-old filly is by Captain Rio, the same sire of star filly Brazillian Pulse, who took out the 2010 Crown Oaks.

"We have always had an opinion of her and we are looking forward to big campaign with her."
