LOOMING LARIO DROPS BACK AND WINS
Dropping back in class and 200m has seen Lario show his best form for a dominant victory at the Caulfield Heath Track on Thursday.
The son of Epaulette was coming off a midfield run over 1800m during Melbourne Cup Week and was sent out equal favourite in the Class 1 metropolitan event.
“It was pleasing to see this result today. He really took charge of the race and dominated,” trainer Danny O’Brien said.
“We learned a lot about him at Flemington as he showed an excellent turn of foot and loomed into the race out wide, and hit the lead at the 200m, before fading in final furlong.”
“It showed us that probably a mile sees him out, so you will see him up to a mile in the future.”
Jockey Blake Shinn said the race never felt in doubt.
“We were getting a picnic out in front and coming down the side he was idling, ready to explode and his finishing burst was excellent.”
