LOVAZOU POWERS OUT OF TROUBLE
Lovazou's electric turn of foot got her out of a precarious position, allowing her to surge to her third straight victory on Saturday at Caulfield.
As the field passed the final furlong marker it appeared the daughter of Zoustar was going to be a certainty beaten, but the four-year-old sprouted wins inside the final 100m once clear to claim the impressive victory.
Jockey Carleen Hefel breathed a sigh of relief after claiming the victory.
"She shouldn't have been able to win from where she was and being held up for so long," Hefel said.
"I was thinking she is going to be unlucky, but her turn of foot late was exceptional and shows the talent that she does possess."
The Cambridge Stud owned mare has three wins from three starts this preparation and Danny O'Brien's Racing Manager Jack Howard is confident she can continue her excellent progression and make it at an even higher level.
"The key is getting her in the gates. Once she goes in you can always be confident she will run well. A lot of credit needs to go to the team back home for the work they do with her behind the scenes and also Julien Welsh and Carleen as they have done a heap of work with her to enable her to actually get to the starting gates," Howard said.
