MARACANA SCORES UNDER LIGHTS

Fresh off recording his 1500th winner as a trainer in the first leg  of a double at Geelong on Friday,  trainer Danny O'Brien's day got even better when his sole runner at Cranbourne, Maracana proved too good.

The treble was made event sweeter by the fact O'Brien bred and owns the daughter of Shamexpress and races the horse with his wife Nina and some close friends!

The 1600m win was Maracana  fourth and was courtesy of an excellent ride by Jason Maskiell.

"It was a great to get this result as she is not the most sound filly, and she takes a lot of work for the staff at home to look after her so this is a great reward for their patience and diligence with this mare," O'Brien said.

The Group 2 placegetter is now likely to head to Queensland for the National Broodmares Sale with a run at Doomben on May 25 the most likely option for her next start.
