MARE PITCHES CONSECUTIVE WINS
Savabeel mare Pitchanun continued her inspired form recording back to back wins when she surged to victory at Sandown on Saturday.
The win was the fourth of her 24-start career that has included 10 placings, and followed up an impressive outing at Geelong at her previous start.
Jockey Jye McNeil said the five-year-old had taken much confidence out of her breakthrough last start at 0-64 level.
“She has been brilliantly placed by the stable at her past two, and she appears to have gained so much from her win at Geelong as she travelled terrifically throughout today,” McNeil said.
A solid pace set throughout played into Pitchanun and McNeil’s hands as she was travelling beautifully around midfield.
“She trucked up to them rounding the turn and it felt like it was always going to end up a matter of by how far.”
McNeil was able to ease the Trelawney Stud bred mare down in the closing stages as she surged to the front in the BM78 1600m event in a Good 4 track rating.
“She handles a wet track too, so I am sure she pick off another one over this trip or even over 2000m,” McNeil said.
