MISS ARIA RAILS TO CLASSY WIN
Miss Aria showed she has big things on the horizon with a scintillating victory at Moonee Valley on Saturday.
After missing the start, the daughter of Zoustar was back last on the fence entering the straight and looked in a hopeless position.
Trainer Danny O'Brien was worried that his charge would not get her chance to be in the finish.
"I didn't give her much chance to be fair at the 600, but I knew he'd stay in - he did the same on Extratwo in the last race two weeks ago - so I knew he'd roll the dice and fortunately the runs came and she has got that turn of foot to be able to take them," O'Brien said.
"It went from having none to winning comfortably."
Shinn was thankful he had the horse to get him out of trouble.
"Now way near how we planned. We had to revert to Plan Z at the start when she missed it, but we were back and the speed was on. I was looking for options down the school there and there wasn't much unfolding," Shinn said.
"It was shades of last meeting here and we just had to rely on a bit of luck and she was amazing. I had the horse to take me through he gaps."
Miss Aria was having her first start since her nose defeat in the Group 3 Winx Stakes in Queensland.
"She's come back and had one little jump out eight days ago. The fitness has always been there from that Brisbane campaign," O'Brien said.
"Albeit she's competed up to a mile, she's also won at 1000. She's a filly with a very solid turn of foot at the end of her races, she placed in two Stakes races as a three-year-old but I think she'll be winning a good Stakes race as a four-year-old."
O'Brien has highlighted a 1400m mares race on Turnbull Stakes Day at Flemington for her next start.
