MOANA PUNCHES QLD OAKS TICKET
Ala Moana booked a trip north for next month's Queensland Oaks thanks to her dominant staying victory at Bendigo on Wednesday.
Trainer Danny O'Brien was trackside at the Nursery Of Champions to watch the filly power away from her older rivals to register a 3.25 length demolition in the 2200m event.
"It was a very strong performance and it's always encouraging when a three-year-old, let alone a filly, takes on the older horses and gives them a beating," O'Brien said post race.
"She performed well placing in the Tassie Oaks and we can head north now and she has earned the chance against her own age and sex in the Queensland Oaks."
Winning jockey Blake Shinn was right behind having a crack at the sunshine state Group 1 feature.
"There was a lot merit to that win and I would expect her to more than competitive up in Queensland if that is way the owner and Danny want to go," Shinn said post race.
