MOTT ENJOYS SUNSET RIDE
Kapalua Sunset earned herself a shot at the Country Oaks on Good Friday on her home track after proving too classy for her rivals at Geelong on Friday.
The daughter of Tavistock was given an excellent ride from jockey Jamie Mott and was far too good for her opposition in the 1755m 0-64 event.
"We always travelled like the winner and we got to the front too soon because she was travelling so well, but she kept going and showed that she had a bit on these horses," a victorious Mott said post-race.
"She just ran out of fitness first-up when we finished third at Bendigo, but she took great improvement from that run and today she was spot on. I can't wait to see her out in trip as that should suit her really nicely."
Mott won't have to wait long for that as trainer Danny O'Brien has earmarked the $150,000 Country Oaks over 2200m at Geelong on the club's Royal Children's Hospital Good Friday Raceday as her next start.
