Nice work has Engine revved up for Saturday
De Little Engine has trained on nicely since his recent second-up run over 2000m at Caulfield and is in good order to step up to 2800m at Flemington.
The Danny O’Brien-trained galloper pulled up well after working solo over 1800m on Tuesday morning, covering the trip in 2.08.21 and his final 400m in a sharp 23.93.
Although he is sure to derive further benefit from Saturday’s outing, he usually comes to hand fairly quickly and should prove hard to beat this weekend.
O’Brien paired up Sure You Can and Second Bullet for a workout and they are also in good shape for their respective assignments at Flemington.
They worked solidly over 1400m to run the journey in 1.38.42 and their last 400m in 23.87. Second Bullet was also given a strong hit out in a recent jumpout to prepare him for Saturday’s first up run over 1800m and Sure You Can is close to her top to compete over 2000m.
