Oaks on agenda after O'Brien filly bolts in

A Victorian Oaks campaign is on the agenda for Donna Cattiva after a victory in the Listed Adelaide Casino Oaklands Plate at Morphettville on Saturday.

Danny O'Brien's progressive two-year-old made light work of her rivals, sitting just off the speed before peeling out in the straight and cruising away for an easy win in the $80,000 event.

Eased down late by Dwayne Dunn, Donna Cattiva beat Anthony Freedman's Chosen Moment by four lengths, with Monica Kate a further three lengths back in third.

It was her first win in five starts and the Flemington trainer believes the step up to 1600m made the difference.

"She's a filly that's always shown us a bit and just hasn't been suited by the distances she's been in so far," O'Brien said.

"She really appreciated the step up to a mile today, always travelled well and was strong late - good signs for where she'll get to as a three-year-old."

O'Brien has high hopes for the Captain Rio filly, who will now be set for the 2500m Group 1 classic.

"That was her first real test today and you'd have to say she passed it," he said.
