O'BRIEN FILLY A DIAMOND PROSPECT

Danny O'Brien can't see a reason not to head in the direction of the Blue Diamond Stakes with his debut winner at Geelong on Friday, Dancer For Money.

O'Brien was surprised that his two-year-old filly started at $8 after she had easily won a Werribee jumpout the week before, saying there was good money for some unraced horses from strong stables against his galloper, which suggested to him they must be regarded as talented horses.

Dancer For Money raced on the speed and sprinted clear to win by two-and-a-quarter lengths over Queen Amanjena, who started at $2.15 in the 1130-metre maiden for two-year-olds.

"She won smartly and she's been doing everything right. I'll speak to her owner Yulong about what she should do," O'Brien said.

O'Brien contemplated running Dancer For Money, who is by Grunt, in Friday's Blue Diamond Preview, but opted for a debut at one of his home tracks and will now head towards the Blue Diamond Prelude for fillies at Caulfield on February 10.

"She's come on in leaps and bounds. She came on well after her win at Werribee," he said.

The win continued O'Brien's great run at Geelong, where he has had 13 winners from 41 starters this season at a strike-rate of 30 per cent.

Dancer For Money was ridden by Liam Riordan, who is combining with O'Brien at a strike rate of 30 per cent this season.
