O'Brien joins All Stars for National Jockeys Trust T20

Caulfield Cup and Cox Plate winning trainer Danny O'Brien will don the whites for the first time since he was a teenager when he takes the field in the National Jockeys Trust T20 event on Monday.

"The last time I played cricket was when I was in Year 9 at Xavier College so Monday will be interesting," O'Brien said with a giggle.

"It promises to be an exciting, enjoyable day and if any of you are free and close enough I encourage you come down to the Caulfield Cricket Club for the event.

"More importantly the event is raising money for National Jockeys Trust. Jockeys can easily be taken for granted as they risk their lives each and every day they ride," O'Brien said.

"Each year more than 200 jockeys (around 33% of all jockeys) are injured and 89% of race falls lead to jockeys requiring assistance from the Trust. This organisation has contributed $3.3 million in assistance to injured jockeys and their families, and events like Monday’s are critical to raising funds to assist those in need."
