O'Brien looking for colt to stand tall

Trainer Danny O'Brien will be looking to put his disappointing day at Sandown on Wednesday behind him when he steps out talented youngster Running Tall in tomorrow's colts & geldings Group 3 Blue Diamond Prelude at Caulfield.

O’Brien headed to Sandown on Wednesday with raging favorites Star Witness and Cabeza engaged as well as the exciting Meaisin and fancied two-year-old colt Cape Canaveral only to have track conditions thwart his runners.

“It won’t be a day I try to remember too often, but as it is in this industry there is another race meet tomorrow and you have push on, which is what are doing,” O’Brien said.

The gun trainer will be hoping quick redemption comes in the form two-year-old Stratum colt, Running Tall, in Race 4 tomorrow.

“He’s a lovely horse as he showed on debut and the Blue Diamond has been on his agenda since he arrived at our stable,” O’Brien said.

Running Tall ran a sensational third, pictured above in centre of photo, when caught on the wrong side of the straight in the Group 3 Maribyrnong Trial Stakes at Flemington on Stakes Day at his first trip to the races. He was then spelled and tomorrow will be just his second start.

“I am looking forward to seeing how he compares against Sepoy as tomorrow will give us a guide as to where we are at in relation to the Diamond itself,” the trainer said.

O’Brien also lines up talented filly Frenetica in the listed Kevin Hayes Stakes, while talented mare's Impressive Eagle and Pins On Ice will step out in the Group 3 Hyderabad Race Club Stakes over 1200m.
