O'BRIEN REVEALS SPRING NOMINATIONS

Danny O’Brien knows what it takes to succeed in the spring majors, and he’ll have a team of five nominated for the 2021 renewals of the Caulfield Cup, Cox Plate and Melbourne Cup.

O’Brien revealed that Railway Stakes winner Inspirational Girl, 2019 VRC Oaks heroine Miami Bound, 2019 Melbourne Cup winner Vow And Declare, dual Derby placegetter Young Werther, pictured, and group one performer Superstorm were likely to be nominated for all three feature events.

“They’re all good,” O’Brien said.

“They’re in good shape, they’re all trialling on Wednesday at Geelong.”

O’Brien also noted that his five spring contenders won’t be far off heading to the races.

“It’s obviously the early part of the spring,” he said.

“We’ll be running some of them in August and some won’t run until September.”

O’Brien won the Caulfield Cup in 2007 with Master O’Reilly, the Cox Plate in 2013 with Shamus Award, and the Melbourne Cup in 2019 with Vow and Declare.
