O'Brien to carry momentum into new season

Danny O'Brien will be aiming to continue his late season momentum into the new racing year following the victory of Vellaspride at Geelong on the final day season on Tuesday.

That win was the Flemington and Barwon Heads based trainer's 49th of the season and the trainer is confident of improved results in the coming year.

"We have building the team back up nicely and we have being going at about 20% winners over the final three months of the season so we will be looking to continue that form," O'Brien said.

After a couple of tumultuous years, the Caulfield Cup and Cox Plate winning trainer is hellbent on rising back to the top of the mountain in the Sport of Kings and he is confident a headline horse such as Master O'Reilly, Shamus Award, Star Witness, Shamrocker or Glamour Puss is only just around the corner.

"We have some wonderful younger horses coming through or that are lightly raced and I am looking forward to seeing them develop as we get them to the races and continue their careers."
