O'Brien to unveil Addictive Nature at Caulfield
Group 3 winner Addictive Nature will step out for his third trainer when the lightly-raced galloper resumes at Saturday’s Caufield meeting.
Saturday’s Ladbrokes Odds Boost Handicap (1200m) will only be Addictive Nature’s ninth start but the son of Savabeel will debut for the Danny O’Brien stable.
Addictive Nature started his career in Sydney as part of the Bjorn Baker operation but had one start for disgraced trainer Darren Weir before his forced transfer to the O’Brien camp.
Addictive Nature won the Group III Ming Dynasty Stakes (1400m) in 2017 and ran a solid second to Trapeze Artist in the Group II Expressway Stakes (1200m) in February last year.
The four-year-old hasn’t raced since a close second at Listed level during the Caulfield Cup carnival but has impressed O’Brien since joining his stable.
“He’s a high-quality Savabeel entire,” O’Brien said.
“He’s obviously had his issues because he’s four, rising five, but I’ve been more than happy with him.
“He’s certainly got talent and he’s a horse that has got enough ability to win a nice race.”
Addictive Nature narrowly won a jumpout at Werribee on April 8. O’Brien also accepted to run the stallion in the Group III Hall Mark Stakes (1200m) in Sydney but decided on the Caulfield assignment.
“I took him to the trials at Werribee the other day and he went nicely,” O’Brien said.
“We were looking for a wet track but it has come up firm in both places.
“It looks like the Melbourne race is the softer option. I expect him to run well on Saturday.”
Craig Williams will ride Addictive Nature at Caulfield.
Sportsbet has Addictive Nature at $4.60 to make a winning start to life with the O’Brien stable.
