OLLIE SPECIAL LANDS GENIUS VICTORY
Jockey Damien Oliver gave everyone a reminder of why he is considered the greatest of all time with a masterful display to lift The Genius to victory at Kyneton on Thursday.
Oliver persuaded the four-year-old gelding to dig deep and haul in the leader in the shadows of the post to score the victory in the 1860m event.
"It was a really good win as I thought the leader has stolen a big enough lead, but this guy finished strongly enough to gain the victory," Oliver said post-race.
"He likes being allowed to find his feet, and we did no work from the inside gate and then were able to get clear at the top of the straight and he chased really hard, which was pleasing."
The win was the son of So You Think's second at his fifth career start. Both wins have come at the central Victoria track as the gelding won on debut back in December.
