Damien Oliver was at his Hall Of Fame best on Sunday much to the delight of punters as he lifted hot favourite Shalily over the line to victory in the 1600m maiden event.

Oliver used all his guile to get the daughter of Shalaa to put her nose down right on the post to win the race on the final day of her three-year-old season.

"I probably used her up a bit early going forward from the wide gate, but she was very genuine late and it's great to get the win for the owners who have been patient with her," Oliver said post-race.

"She handled the track well and if she can gain confidence from that win, it wouldn't surprise me to see her go on with it."
